Professor Charles Xavier was obliterated by Jean Grey. Erik Magnus Lehnsherr was given the cure by the X-Men and disappeared. These two events, running hand-in-hand with each other, took place five long years ago and the X-Men were faced with a decision.
Shut down the school and let it die with Charles Xavier or keep it open and let his dream live on.
"Hank, tell the children the school remains open."
These eight words were the best words the students at Xavier's Institute had heard in years - The school was to remain open under new administration and the X-Men would continue to fight the good fight.
Taking the mantle of Head Mistress, Ororo Munroe appointed Dr. Jean Grey-Summers as Dean of Students, although she was quite shocked that Jean was among the living once again. Scott Summers and Dr. Jean Grey had been wed a few months after their return, and they seemed so happy together.
On the other side of New York, the Brotherhood was back in full force, under the control of St. John Allerdyce and Skye Turner-Allerdyce - With Magneto's disappearance, the two have been trying to hold the Brotherhood together by a string, and barely succeeding.
Sebastian Shaw's control over the Hellfire Club has been taken from him by Emma Frost, and while they haven't yet reared their ugly heads, it is only a matter of time before they begin recruiting as well.

X-men Captivated.
Everybody knew someday it would end... Someday, their luck would run out. And yet, when the time came... They weren't ready for it...
The Government always tried to control mutants, to make sure they would be locked up. The Mutant registration act, Sentinels... Just how they managed now, no one knows. No one knows just what part of the government made it happen.
They just know it all started after the president was killed. Fact was, everywhere Mutants were overrun, within days the streets where clean. The only safe haven left... Genosha. A nation led by Magneto, who is sorry, sorry for being right.
There are things that go bump in the night. Recently, they’ve been louder than usual. The world has gotten used to the idea of meta-humans. The hubs of the world, have learned well what they are capable of, and that many are dedicated to the protection of human life. But the monsters are changing, growing in numbers. Strange creatures have been springing up all over the world. They range from minor dangers, to absolute terrors.
And with them have risen those who are want them dead. They too range in power, some normal people that are taking things into their own hands. The others match those of the powerhouses in the world. They had special powers like Superman, Wonder Woman, and other American icons. Not only are they arising in America though.
Japan has gained their own base of heroes while these new threats continue to escalate. Of course...the sudden surfacing of heroes in Japan has caught the attention of a mysterious person who plans on observing their talents and abilities along with competence in order to form a group of defenders. Funny thing is...that isn't all of what's going on and much more is in store for all those unsuspecting people. Question is, what else could be going on?

whatever doesn't kill you... simply makes you STRANGER
It's the age of villains, it seems, for Gotham City. The Joker, having been captured once, escaped again and this time there's more at stake. Bruce Wayne, our resident Batman, has been thinking of stepping down and, if that weren't bad enough, he's being chased by the police at every turn. On the contrary, Wayne Enterprises seems to be flourishing. But with the Joker stumbling around the city, who's to say things will remain as they are for long? The police force, undergoing a massive clean-up, is trying its hardest to seek out the villains that plague and poison the city. Its just not an easy task.

More and more villains seem to be popping up left and right, most intent on following the Joker and his plans for Gotham. A 'better class of criminals', they say; the Riddler, the Penguin, such simple names to describe their MO's. But vigilantes are showing themselves now too, some with acute powers to help them in their task of cleaning up Gotham's streets. And our main hero is still at large, but still trying to right the wrongs; even if he says he isn't. The mobsters of old are joining the villains on their quest while the police are beginning to band together with the vigilantes; after all, they'll need all the help they can get.

Citizens are caught in the middle of this battle of powers. Their opinions are changing and some are even joining the mobsters and their villain counterparts for the safety they promise. Others are trying to aid the police force and the vigilantes, even after so shunning the Batman. And of course Batman is torn down the middle. Should he continue to fight, or give himself up? It's a tough question that doesn't have an answer, especially when his alter-ego is being targeted himself. Yes, the Joker has his sights set on the influential Mister Wayne, supposedly for reasons unknown. He couldn't know, could he?

Genre: Human, mental hospital, real life, 1977. Difficulty: Intermediate - advanced. Please don't join if you think you can't post at that level. Quality over quantity is accepted here.
So you've stumbled upon Freeman Hospital of Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Perhaps you became "unstuck" in time, or maybe you fell through some sort of ethereal portal, transporting your sorry bag of flesh to the past. Whatever the case, the year is 1977, not 2008, and psychosurgery has recently been declared unethical, although "effective," by the Committee of Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioral Research in the United States. The U.S. has been the leader in psychosurgery since the 1930's, but after advancement in science, it is now looked down upon in most places. Dr. Edward Freeman has managed to keep his facility up and running, despite this fact, and has kept a few secrets within the hospital from congress. Inside the hospital, no one can trust each other and alliances are created or crumble under the pressures [or eerie non-pressures] of life in a mental hospital. Only time will tell if Dr. Freeman's medical ethics can be kept as undisclosed information. Who knows? Can you count the skeletons in your closet?

Ever since they learned how to walk upright humans have been afraid of things they didn't understand. That fear leads them to hate the object and seek to destroy it at all cast, even if it means harm to their own kind. Although they have been around almost as long as humans themselves, mutants weren't discovered until some time in the mid twentieth century. The US government had originally begun using these 'people' to secure their success in certain situations such as World War II, The Korean War, an other various international and internal disputes. With time and an increase in technology, the government begun to study mutants and attempt to obtain their abilities through varies means. Their earliest known attempt was the creation of Captain America, many more would soon follow. The government agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D was charged with the capture and experimentation of mutants, officially it was for the protection of the people who until this day remain unaware of their existence.
Not until many years later would their tests yield some results but as the director of the agency changed so too did S.H.I.E.L.D's mission. Instead of taking them S.H.I.E.L.D. was charged with creating a database containing the information of every mutant that lived in the country. It was instructed to only capture and detain mutants who were a high threat level and/or too powerful to let run around on their own. To accomplish their first objective the agency approached a young Charles Xavier who wanted to create a school for mutants. They informed him that they would secretly fond the school if he allowed for them to secret collect the needed data on every one of his students. A few years after the completion of the school they would again approach former student Emma Frost and with the same deal they handed Xavier, the Academy of Tomorrow was created shortly afterwards. For their second objective S.H.I.E.L.D. launched their main headquarters the Helicarrier. Being the largest and most heavy armed mobile fortress on the planet made the helicarrier ideal not only as a base but as a detention center. Mutant criminals of a high enough threat would be transported to it to carry out the rest of their lives. If a mutant required maximum security the Triskelion a ground facility would become their new home.
Very little is known of the one man that would change not only how mutants were treated but their very way of life and would be responsible for the creation of the mutant terrorist group known as the Brotherhood. Weapon Plus director John Sublime the man initially responsible for the organization as well as every product such as Captain America a.k.a Weapon I to the recent create products and rise in defense technology was the cause. He secretly approached the secretary of defense and convinced him of the threat that mutants posed not only to the country but to all humankind. He was given funding and was allowed to have the program abduct any and all mutants it pleased to conduct its research in finding a 'solution' to the mutant 'problem'. Sublime quickly impressed the higher ups by producing many new forms of technology thought to be works of science fiction such as Plasma Rifles, jetpacks, teleporters, psi-blockers, and hover discs, all of which were either duplicated or shared with S.H.I.E.L.D. Weapon Plus also developed various other technologies which they have chosen to keep to themselves or to monopolize such as the power negating collars of Genosha or stolen and advanced it such as the technology used in their secret base The World. These two organizations are both ran by the US government and all though their methods and missions may be different both were given the same direct order... keep all knowledge of the existence of mutants under wraps and be able to protect the nation from them should the need ever arise.
Years pass and now we come into the present day. Mutants are still the dirty little secert of the human race but like every other living being they have learned to move on with thier lives. There are those that use thier abilities to make themselves a few quick bucks or have turned themselves into sellswords but the majority of them have chosen to live normal lives as if they were human. The town of Bayville is where this story is based. Its a moderate sized town that like any other praises their high school football team over all else. It is this high that Xavier has chosen to have his attend as the Institute lays closest to the town. Its there with the town's every growing mutant population that the string of events that will lead the future into the state that its destined to fall in. For it is here that the first known Sentinel Prototype is being developed by Bolivar Trask and it is where the existence of mutants is to be known.
The humans are about to find out that they're no longer the top of the food chain, something that will lead to dark future but is it a future that can be avoided if the right moves are made? mutants are the future, even if the world doesn't want it so __________š›___________
